There's a lot to like in this little novel about a hippy-dippy art teacher who takes a job in a small eastern Oregon town and lands in the former bunkhouse of an elderly ranching couple. Her seriously woo-woo lifestyle and attitudes change several things for the better, and I was all ready to give this one a higher rating when an oddball ending made it jump the tracks.
I have no problem with the baby plot-point, since there was foreshadowing there, but on the nearly last page, there's a statement (or assumption) made about one of the main characters that seemed to come out of nowhere.
It's still a fun read, but did perhaps need a bit of editorial massaging. Extra points for the local-to-me geographical setting.
