This is one of the few infomercial crazes I've ever tried, and this book is also the only weight-loss programs that ever worked for me. I lost about 40 lbs on it the first time I tried the program, but had a series of life changes that led me back to emotional eating. I've gotten back on the essentials of the program since then, and have re-lost that weight, though I have more to go. The program has not been impossible to follow for an extended period of time, and I have learned to make my own decisions about my personal balance regarding the occasional consumption of high-fat food. The information is easy to understand, and accessible, and frankly, no miracles or magic is promised here. This is a *how to change your habits when you're finally ready to change* book. One of my favorite things about it is that it's not written for *fit* people. It has practical advice for those of us, like me, who are really out of shape. It is also kind, compassionate and positive, a nice change from the boot-camp mentality of some of the other writers on this subject. The one thing this book lacks is enough emphasis on strength training. It's there, but not to the degree I would like. Still, the only reason I have listed my copy is because I've basically memorized the program. Susan Powter is still around BTW - she has a MySpace page that's very interesting.
