This is my first book by Carol Finch and she has a wicked sense of humor that she allows her characters to use in dialog. The story is a bit off of dead-center and is charming because of it.
Marshal Jackson Culpepper has a problem; someone is draining the town of cash without them being any the wiser. So he and his two brothers concoct a scheme to force the embezzler to make a mistake they start robbing the towns only bank.

Their first robbery goes well but doesnt get the result they are looking for so they decide to heist more money from the bank. They were not expecting the latest arrival, one Cassandra Bixby, to try to thwart them during the robbery.

Unfortunately, Cassie is a newspaper reporter and wont leave the robberies alone; she starts writing articles about the marshal being incompetent and lazy. That starts the fur flying around town.

The embezzler(s) may get away because the town marshal is too busy trying to drain the ink out of the new reporters pen.
