I am fascinated by the "code wars" of World War II, as well as the deceptions, spies, double agents and the military and political politics surrounding them. I have an entire shelf or more devoted to books on the subject. How I missed reading this 1982 book on the subject until now is a wonderment to me.
Despite my knowledge of many of the incidents described in the book, it was well worth the time to read it. An Englishman takes an unencumbered view of the American effort against the Japanese codes and the use made of them. I found the book extremely enlightening and easy to read. The author's comments also enriched my understanding of this period of American history.
