If you want a serious historical analysis of the USS Yorktown's career and those of the men who served on her, you can skip this book.
But if you want to experience the human stories of the men who served on this ship from just before the war to until it was sunk at the Battle of Midway, and even afterward, then this is a good read.
I enjoyed the book and finished it within 36 hours. And while you might tell your friends some of the stories you will read here, I wouldn't risk quoting the book in an historical paper or other presentation. This is not that kind of a book.
