Wm. Walker was 'elected' President of Nicaragua in 1856 but executed in 1860, having aroused the indignation of all the Central American republics against his plans.
A well laid out book, staring with filibusters in Cuba and in Sonora. Illustrated with many period newspaper cuttings, there being considerable interest in Major General Walker, especially among those who wanted to extend slavery.
This is a popular book, not an especially scholarly tome, and in a reading classroom of 8th grade or 11th grade US History, interested students could read and discuss more about filibustering than the paragraph or two it receives in textbooks.
Maps, index, bibliography, but no footnotes.
