This should be categorized as an Historical Suspense Mystery Romance. Because even though it was easy to figure out who the bad guy was there was a twist when the bad guy was revealed that just shocked me. The first chapter of this book was really cheesy but got better as the chapters progressed, the differense between chapter one and two were crazy, had chapter two not been as awesome as it was I may have not stuck with this. And though this is a romance I was sitting on the edge of my seat anxious to get to the end to see how it all played out because a tiny seed of doubt is planted into the readers mind during this whole book that makes you wonder if there is truly a Happily Ever After type of ending or one of those sucky endings where the girl does the proper thing and marries for family security and society. And you sit there reading arguing with yourself over wether or not you're just being paranoid.

But I will gladly spoil it for you, not something I usually do, and say there is a Happily Ever After.... two actually. Laurell McKee is now on my favorite authors list with this one. :)
