I don't usually write reviews of the books I read, unless I really love them or really dislike them. Well, although I have read & really enjoyed Catherine Coulter's 10 prior FBI Thriller's in this series, I really hated this book. I found it to be endlessly gory, disgusting and really disturbing. I almost didn't finish it, and it took me about a year to do so, which is unlike me. As others have stated, her writing in this one is choppy and weird, as well. I didn't even like the storyline - I felt the intertwining of Dix's family connections were too confusing and that his sons wouldn't have accepted Ruth so fast. I really didn't care about any of them, either. Savich & Sherlock have a major fight, which I thought was totally contrived & hurtful based on their prior relationship. I really hated Moses Grace and his "relationship" with Claudia - talk about statutory rape and inappropriate subject matter. The whole taking of people's eyes and leaving them for dead was a huge, gory, problem for me, as was Ms. Coulter's constant description of Moses Graces' "death rattle". I felt like throwing up every time I had to read it. Couldn't wait to finish it because she builds each book from the last, and reading the next book description I see Dix in it again. Oh, joy, just loved him. This may be the last book I read in her series if the next one is this bad.

If I want gore and horror, I'll read Stephen King. Oh, wait, I hate gore and horror and don't read him. :(
