This was a fun, light read. The book is narrated by the main character Calliope and the tone is really chatty and friendly. It gives you a good sense of her personality right from the very first page. She's sweet, well-meaning, and dedicated, but she's not the brightest or the most ambitious girl around. And that's okay. It's kind of a nice break from the usual tough-as-nails, hyper-competent, tortured kind of female protagonists that are so common in this genre (not that I don't like that too!). The world Calliope inhabits is a fun mish-mash of elements from all kinds of mythologies.

If you're looking for a fun bit of fluff that you can breeze through pretty quickly, this would be a good book to choose.
