Book Review of Always the First to Die

Always the First to Die

This was such a fun book! I had my doubts in the beginning because there were some things that I didn't find believable at all. Having lived most of my life along the Gulf Coast I have been through several hurricanes. (These things occur at the beginning of the book so not spoilers). I know the protagonist would never have been able to just drive into the Florida Keys hours after a Category 4 storm. Also you don't get caught by surprise with a hurricane. They may take an unexpected turn but you know days ahead that you are in the cone of possibility. Also (although it is possible) what are the odds of a hurricane at Halloween? So this was off to a somewhat rocky start in my opinion but I am really glad I kept going. There were some tense and scary moments, suspense, action and mystery. But all the horror movie references throughout the book took the fun to a whole new level. I will look for more by this author!
