I have enjoyed this series since the beginning. This copy was an Advanced Reading Copy e-book, so I got it for free as a reviewer.
This latest entry in the series is a pleasant read, but it doesn't quite have the same charm and breathless excitement of some of the earlier titles. This deep into the series, that extra bit of fun that comes from Bailey Ruth's status as ghost or angel or whatever has worn off. Nevertheless, Bailey Ruth remains the interesting, charming, creative, fun-loving spirit she has always been, and it's fun to be with her.
There are a few clever elements in the mystery, but they begin to wear a bit thin as Bailey Ruth reviews the suspects and motives over and over again (and again). I enjoyed the personalities of the two sisters involved. One is a steady, reliable, down-to-earth young woman while the other is a bit naive, a bit flighty, and delightfully fun-loving, creative, artistic, and optimistic. Rather like a farm's reliable, steady workhorse and her sister, the unicorn.
In spite of these few cavils and the slower than necessary pace, it's a fun book to read. I'll be following Bailey Ruth's adventures for some time to come.
