Helpful Score: 3
I enjoyed this book in spite of its flaws. The runaway bride plot is more than a little tired and cliche, but the characters were strong enough to pull me through that. The flaw that was more difficult to overcome, for me anyway, was the complete reversal of the heroine's speech patterns when the story made a 7 year jump. It felt to me as though the author just got tired of writing the character's speech the way she'd introduced it, so she just dropped it, hoping the reader would see that as part of a maturation process. I didn't and I don't, but I gritted my teeth and accepted it. I also felt that the issue of the heroine being dyslectic wasn't "paid off" as it should have been. The emphasis it got at the beginning of the story made it deserve more than the shrug off it got later. Had these issue been handled more effectively, I wouldn't have been bounced out of the story as often as I was. It was only the strength of the characters that got me to finish the story at all.
