Mercy and Adam finally tie the knot after ten years of dating and honeymoon like poor white trash in a camper on the bank of the Columbia River on the Washington/Oregon border. Of course this isn't all fun and games, and don't forget sex though as usual we aren't treated to any of the particulars. Shape-shifting otters play a huge role in this mediocre plot as does a ginormous mysterious sea creature. Toss in the ghost of Mercy's long-dead father, yo-yo girl, an ancient Indian god and you should have had a fantastic story but nope didn't happen. I wasn't overly impressed with this installment of the Mercy Thompson series. It was surprisingly slow and boring. Just bleh. I found that I really didn't care how it ended and I thought the monster was way over the top. Usually this series is somewhat believable but this book was just unreal and there was just no way in hell that Mercy could have overcome this particular monster.

I know there will be more books in this series and I hope to heck they get back to the "real" world and are more entertaining than this space filler.
