Very haunting love story about a young Chinese girl.
She grew up in her family villa and has never ventured outside the villa due to Chinese customs and unmarried women. It is arranged for her to marry a man whom her father has chosen.
Before her wedding, her father has given her a gift of recreating parts of a play at the family villa and she is able to experience it behind screens that keep all of the women hidden from view.
Through a crack in the screen she glimpses a view of a dark haired man and .... you'll have to listen to the rest (or read the book).
It was a very good book. Very interesting about Chinese culture.
