English beauty, Gytha has wedded Thayer, the Red Devil, a man who sees himself as ugly which no Lady would want to saddle herself with. Gytha's beauty is both a balm to his soul and a threat to his sanity as he envisions all men clamoring after her and someone eventually turning her head away from his ugly visage. His extended family (cousins) are trying to kill him to get his land and title and Gytha, of course, gets in the way and kidnapped. This is the story of a man who doesn't believe in himself (his looks not his fighting ability) and the woman who loves him but is frustrated by his inability to see that she loves him.
Well written with grea t characters (even the bad guys). And as expected, a happily ever after for our hero and heroine. This was written in 1992 and isn't up to Hannah Howell's current standards but still a great read.
