This book is truly a hidden gem! I have read thousands of books over the years and I don't say that often. Bale is not a popular author, nor can I say that her other books are fabulous... but there is just something about this story that makes you long to be a beautiful Indian Princess. She loves Stalking Horse from childhood to adulthood and as they grow together... I couldn't help but fall in love with him too. Though I read this one about 20 years ago, I still remember it and would read it again. Not your typical halfbreed, white/Indian conflict. This is a story immersed in Cheyenne culture and way of life. A Cheyenne Princess and her Brave Warrior. This is my favorite American Indian romance of all time.
