This is one of my favorite series from Christine Feehan but I was concerned by some of the bad reviews for this book. After reading the story, I am puzzled by the complaints unless they are from someone who never read this series before. These are big cats who are violent and dominant, more cat than human.

Siena is a young woman who does not know she is from a family of leopard shifters. Her only family is her grandfather, who she loves dearly. She has been at boarding school and college and now has her Business degree and is ready to work at her family vineyard and winery Her grandfather sends her with a birthday gift to another leopard family headed by Elijah Lospostos, someone she has fantasized about since she was a teenager. This leads to living out her fantasy with Elijah, his accusations against her and her family and a violent confrontation with her grandfather's bodyguard, Paoli. Her grandfather is assassinated shortly after he explains to Siena about her heritage. Siena runs to the office of a neighbor, Jake Bannaconni, for help. Jake is also a shifter who was in previous books. Jake is a friend of Elijah and tries to get Siena to trust him but Siena is so humiliated and ashamed after their encounter she will have nothing to do with him.
After Elijah rescues Siena he vows to protect her while they discover who murdered her grandfather.

WARNING: I can see where the dominance issue could be a trigger for someone from a abusive relationship.

CONS: My main complaint is all the misunderstandings over and over again, the same arguments, confrontations and misunderstanding repeated so often. We all know how sensual the cats are but enough is enough sex ...get on with the story please.

PROS: Nice catching up with Eli & Catarina and Jake & Emma, also Drake Donovan and his organization. I did like Siena and Elijah as a couple. And we did discover more about what is going on with the crime families. I want to know what happens with the babies, everyone is pregnant.
