I absolutely loved the first installment in this series, Stormwalker. It had all the qualities I look for in a great paranormal novel. It was riddled with magic, action, murder, an intense romance and most of all the force of evil. I worked myself up for the release of Firewalker, thinking it would bring even more to the table than Stormwalker did and I was shocked when it didn't. It seemed to be a whole lot of the exact same thing, with the exception of more dragon interaction. I felt as though I had already read it and didn't learn anything new about the characters that I love. One thing that annoyed me to no end was the sheriff, Nash. He knew about the magic and all that comes with it in the first book but seemed to be right back where he was in the first chapters of book one. UGH! It was infuriating. Anyway, I still love Janet and Mick and once again look forward to finding out what happens next.
Overall, Firewalker is average in all ways. The best thing about it for me was the magic mirror. The mirror's attitude and personality was fabulous and laughable, making the novel worth reading. I wanted so much more than was offered with this installment. Better luck next time right?
