I liked this one more than the last, which had (to me) a lot of very tedious theosophical discussion. What I really liked is that the plot didn't go where I thought it would; King drags a red herring across and I was halfway through the book before I figured out it wasn't going to be part of the story. Mary continues to be an independent woman whose interests don't always coincide with Sherlock Holmes', but at the same time she too misses the thrill of solving the puzzle. Sherlock and Mycroft both remain interesting and we get quite a lot about Mary's troubles after the car accident which killed the rest of her family. After reading a couple other reviews, I learnt that Lord Peter Wimsey has a cameo here but since I've never read Dorothy Sayers, I missed it. I wondered who that guy was... Anyway, good mystery.
