This is a story of two sisters and their teen years in today's America. The protagonist is a 16 year old girl coping with peer pressure, critical parents, sexuality, and her yearning for independence. Her sister is 18 and in her first year at Cornell.
The sisters react differently to the pressures of teenhood, the first, by inappropriate sexual behaviour, the other by becoming anorexic.
The novel provides some insight as to why some teens rebel, even when parents are well intended. In addition, it portrays the ethnic mix of some neighborhoods and schools and the resulting cultures and issues.
I recommend this book to those interested in a good story and teen behavior.
