These are twelve quickie seemingly innocuous Poirot stories. Near retirement, Poirot takes on these unusual cases: for him at least. Few begin with murder; some have none. A kidnapped dog, a young girl disappears from a train, a swindler organizes a pseudo church, etc.: each case symbolic of one of Hercules labors from mythology. Easy to read, short on investigation, all relying on Poirots extraordinary power of insight. A good book for the waiting room.
