The Orchard of Lost Souls is the story of the women of Somalia during the period of violent civil war and a severe drought. This is a global story told through the stories of three individuals. I don't know much about the history of Somalia or the culture. Yet, I recognize in these women patterns seen around the world of strong and courageous women. A very difficult story to read but one that holds you from beginning to end.
