I had never read any of Ann Rice's Vampire books and was leary of her attempting a book on the life of Christ. My fears were completely unfounded. This book is not only an excellent read as a novel, but it is historically accurate and truly touching. She approaches the character of Jesus as a human being who becomes aware of his divinity, and all that encompasses, as gradually unfolds in His life. I felt a deeper understanding of who the Man Jesus may have been and that understanding illuminated his crucifixion in a way that a 12 yrs of Christian education hadn't done. I loved this book and keep reading it again and again.
