This was a good read, very detailed; has good character development, but somewhat sad and gloomy in parts because of the Native American tragedy that is a part of the story. (The book takes place in the 1870's when the hero's people were being forced to live on reservations.) I thought the love story was very strong but at the same time, the fact that there really couldn't be a "happy" ending to what was happening OUTSIDE of the character's romance (and this often affected them, too), left me kind of sad. Therefore, I can't really rate it higher than three stars.
