Original yet rather bizarre retelling of favorite fairy tales, though there were a few I hadn't heard of before. I wasn't so very impressed until about halfway through when I read Little Man. The author actually made me feel sorry for the nasty, horrid goblin in Rumpelstiltskin. Then there were Steadfast: Tin and Beasts; both very relatable with moral messages of their own. In retrospect, once I turned the last page, I could see that despite their whimsical origins, the author successfully captured the essence of human nature. Even the tastefully graphic illustrations appealed, in a slightly dark and haunting sort of way.
