ISBN 0875963404 - Since I managed not to kill my (now adult) son without reading a single book about how to get your kid from 0 to 18 alive, I have a hard time understanding parents that live by these things. If, however, you're one of those parents who like to refer to these kinds of books, this is one I really like.

From the first year to school days, new babies to older children, from thumb sucking to recycling, this book covers far too much to consider it a good read. Instead, it's more of a reference book, the kind of thing you'd pick up for a quick but thorough answer to a question or leaf through periodically. Between the Table of Contents in the front and the Index in the back, finding what you're looking for is a breeze.

The information is concise and relatively complete. More than that, it's only very slightly dated. The greatest negative may be - and I can't say with 100% certainty - that the phone numbers and addresses throughout may or may not still be accurate and this edition (1997) doesn't include website references that I would assume a newer edition would.
