I'll preface this review by saying I've recently started reading a bunch of romance books based in this area (scotland) and in this era.
I liked this book enough that I really wanted to know what happened at the end and read it quite quickly for that reason. However I did not really feel for the characters as much as I have experienced in other books with similar stories. Also, and this may have been because I did not read the first book in the series, I thought that the relationships between all of the characters was very confusing in the beginning. I kept having to go back and see who was related to who and how this person was related to that one (I eventually broke down and wrote names on a piece of paper with arrows showing how each character related to eachother - I'm a visual learner what can I say) After a while I got the hang of it though.
I also agree with what another posted commented about how the description of the main character's past was somewhat vague and not fully explained.
Overall, after all these comments, I did like the book...I just didn't love it as much as I have others - such some of Judy Garwood's. I would recommend that one read it if they're interested in this category of book.
