This book was a fascinating history of the atomic programs of the various countries involved in World War II. While the book did delve into the politics of war and nuclear weapons, the focus was on the scince and scientists involved in the programs, and included some fairly in-depth examination of the physics and engineering involved in making the bombs work. I liked how the story moved between the different programs in Europe, Russia, and the US, as well as detailing the spy programs. It didn't harp on one topic too long, so it felt like the book was moving quickly in short chunks, rather than dragging in one area. It was very well done.
