I wonder how I missed this as a child! It's a wonderful fantasy about a magical tree in a wood and a spring that gives everlasting life, and what happens when 10-year-old Winnie discovers it. This is a classic and I'm surprised it wasn't given a Newbery Honor (the award that year deservedly went to The Grey King by Susan Cooper). Now I'm interested in seeing the movie.
