"Wonderful" book is too simplistic for this alphabet book of American sign language letters. I think it is breathtaking! Laura Rankin, who was inspired by a deaf stepson to create this book, is an exceptional artist. The art for each picture was colored pencil on charcoal paper which was 'scanner-separated and reproduced in full color'. I don't really know what that means, but the artwork is textured and lovely. The book transcends race by having many different flesh toned hands making the signs. Publishers Weekly stated, "...an exceptionally striking ABC that speaks in an eloquent language all its own." Any ABC book collector will want to own this one!
