Julia Quinn's writing style is capable if unremarkable, and as mentioned in another review, reminds me of Joanna Lindsey.
This is a cute story, another tale of the Bridgertons; Eloise.
A correspondence begins innocently enough between Eloise and her cousin's Widower, Sir Phillip, until a final note arrives containing an interest in an offer of marriage. Considering they've never met...Eloise decides to visit him to see if they'll suit - and finds out that his two devilish children have run off every governess, let alone any prospective wives. Eloise grew up with many brothers and sisters of course, so she knows just how to fight dirty.
The only thing I don't like about this sort of novel is the "force the dishonored female to marry the man she was caught alone with will she or nil she" sort of high-handedness. For some reason, Quinn seems particularly fond of that sort of thing (using it in several novels, including this one), and it shows a lack in her writing that she can't think of another resolution than that old hackneyed romance cliche. Shotgun weddings are so passe!
