A beautifully written book, chock full of lessons about the Pacific coast's marine life through the eyes of a thirteen year old boy's coming of age. If you love the natural world and are one of Rachel Carson's followers, you will love this book. An easy read - I believe it was written for the young adult - but very mature in its nature. Great characters... I especially liked Miles' elderly friend, Florence. The ending upset me a bit as I'm not quite sure where it really went and hate to think negatively in that regard, but that didn't take away from the story.
