In this second of the series, Charlie, thief and writer, finds himself in Paris being asked to steal a painting. Of course mayhem, murder and mystery ensues when he goes to the apartment. The painting is already gone, then the owner of the painting ends up dead in his apartment. He spends the rest of the novel dodging police, his publicist, local bookstore thugs and other criminals while trying to find out what is going on.
This story isn't as well conceived as previous Ewan plots. There are too many various leads that get frustrating for the protagonist and the reader. The story seems too long. A few good storyline clips would move this up to a four star rating easily. Also, the meeting of his publicist and her immediate willingness to help seems far fetched and forced. But, I'm still for reading this series.
