The Life and Legend of Chris Kyle: American Sniper, Navy SEAL

This is a biography of Christopher Kyle, co-author of the Best Selling book American Sniper about Kyle's experiences as a member of Seal Team 3. Chris Kyle is officially documented by the U.S. Navy to be the most prolific sniper in U.S. military history.

I picked up the Audio CD, The Life and Legend of Chris Kyle; American Sniper, Navy Seal out of curiosity over the story the was so prominent in the news in 2013. Following the gunning down of Kyle and Chad Littlefield by another war veteran who was suffering from PTSD and schizophrenia, there was a funeral held in the Dallas Cowboy Stadium to handle the crowd and the funeral procession from Midlothian, TX to Austin, TX stretched over 200 miles long.

This book was written by Michael J. Mooney, and read by Brian Troxell, and features personal insights from his time spent with Chris Kyle, his wife, friends, and living the funeral event following Kyle's death. While there are many facts and quotes in the book, they are delivered in interesting ways; personal insights, anecdotes, official records, and more. Rather than seeing only the American Sniper version of Chris Kyle, this book gives and end to end view of his 38 years; before, during, and following his time in the Seals.

This audio book is an easy listen at just 2 hours. Brian Troxell has a great voice and easy pace. The audio edition was produced late enough to include an epilogue not found in the print edition. Also included is a short PDF file scrapbook of pictures. This book is an easy way to get to know 'The Legend' or 'The Devil' depending on which side of the Iraq War you sided with. Give it a listen.
