Interesting collection. The first story, Lisa Plumley's, I'm not going to comment on, other than to say I just couldn't get into it so skipped ahead to the others.

The middle story, Denise Lynn's, was a solid, enjoyable read set in medieval times. It's the first time I read this author and I think it's worth looking up more of her work.

But it's the last story, Christine Merrill's, I'm really writing this review for. I'm not one for creepy or horror or Gothic, but this story had all three and I really enjoyed it. Definitely creepier than the average "Halloween" novella, the story line was very unusual. It featured bad guys, in the form of highwaymen, and bonafide ghostly encounters, and was simply one of the most original stories I've ever read. The way the author meshed the characters and plot was pretty brilliant.
