Rebel who fought for the confederacy inherits estate in England with no funds to restore it. Reluctantly, he makes a business proposal to marry the daughter of a wealthy widow, shrewd in business dealings. Being older than the daughter, with a maturity stemming from his experiences, he finds himself becoming attracted to the mother. Very good interaction between the hero and heroine.
