The Other Woman of the title is not a mistress, but a mother in law. When Ellie Black marries Dan Cooper, she is thrilled to be part of the family that she never had. Soon it becomes apparent that her mother in law is actually a monster-in-law who cant let go of her son. When a terrible accident puts Ellie and Dans marriage at risk, Ellie realizes things must change if she wishes to stay married to Dan.
I am a huge Jane Green fan, but this book isnt one of her better outings. The main problem for me is that I found Ellie to be a bit whiny and without a backbone. Also she seemed to use a lot of passive-aggressive behavior to get her way. I wanted to shake her a couple of times and say just stand up for yourself and get over it already, but that moment is a long time coming. I also thought that the book lacked some of Jane Greens laugh out loud moments, and it could have used a few. Overall though, I tend to like her style of writing, and find her books to be an easy way to spend a couple of days.
