This book is an erotic (not very erotic) historical romance (circa 1066 a.d). M/F.
Plot Summary: Shortly before the Norman King, William, conquers Saxony (England), a Norman Knight has sex with a young Saxon woman he assumes is a peasant (she isn't... she is the Thane's daughter). Although she is willing, she is still angry that he took her virginity and wants vengeance. So she trains as a soldier so she can find him and kick his behind. She dresses as a boy to accomplish this, fooling next to no one, except our rather numb hero, Broc. Misunderstandings, lies, kidnappings, and pregnancies (2) abound until our hero and heroine finally get their HEA.
Main Characters: Broc: not the brightest hero by a long shot. Also, he really does some crummy things to the heroine through the course of the book (nothing brutal, more along the lines of turning her aside when she needs him, not believing in her at all, a lot of the time, etc...) Didn't care much for this guy. Ariel: a strong heroine. Although she does forgive Broc WAY too easily. I liked that she refused to give up her knighthood, that she took her training seriously. She was a strong heroine. Not terribly bright either, but still likable.
Best About this book: Compulsively readable, I found myself turning pages simply to find out how things would go wrong THIS chapter. I liked Ariel as a heroine and her family, supportive characters, and the storyline were interesting.
Worst About this Book: Typos, grammar errors, spelling errors HAUNT this book. There is even a part where the text is underlined for no apparant reason other than what seems to be a complete lack of editing. The hero was fairly intelligent and likable once in awhile, but most of the time, I didn't like him much.
Summary: For a book billed as an erotica (says so, right on the back cover) there is very little sex in this book. There is, however, a decent plot, and a strong heroine and supporting characters that come to life well. Worth a credit.
