This was a fun read about ghosts and the world they live in. In the world of ghosts, you either move on when you hear the knocking or you do ghost work or you're attached to a house/place. Anything else puts you in rogue status. In the living world, most people do not know ghosts exist except if you are a talker. Those who were around death at one point can talk to ghosts. When the "black rot" starts settling into London, it somehow affects ghosts and the living. As a ragtag team work to end the destruction, they find that they and others are more than the expected each other to be. I would have to say that the story was great but the characters is what really made this book so much fun.
Although it was such a fun book, I would have to say that I'm surprised that it is listed as a children's book. Tween or young adult might work but I think it is a big morbid for children. There are scenes with murder, slitting throats, ripping someone apart by their limbs, etc. Please use caution when letting someone very young read this.
