After the Civil War, one brother came home but one didn't. Flint Mahone has taken his brother's small orphan children into his heart and his ranch. A hell raiser to start, Flint realizes he now wants to be at home with the children. Then, he loses his heart to an outlaw's daughter. Then, he finds he is the father of a baby son by former acquaintance. A good read, good story line with a real feel. Not contemporary.
