Book Review of A Cop's Tale--NYPD: The Violent Years: A Detectives Firsthand Account of Murder and Mayhem

This story takes you from the time the author/cop, Det. Sgt. O'Neil becomes a rookie until retirement. I quite liked it. A realistic tale of how policing was in the 60s, 70s and into the 80s before perpetrators got the power, all the rights and control. You read about his rise to detective and working the murder cases in the old days when justice was swift and meted out on the street instead of in courts and with lawyers, the way it is now. It is not justice anymore but the law and it sides with the criminals, not the victims. Most of all I loved it when he was working for IA and was quizzed by them regarding informing. His answer to them is great. You'll have to read it to see.
