This book was a good diversion as a beach/pool read. It is the story of an American guy that chases his foreign girlfriend by joining the cruise line she works for. The book tells of the debauchery of the workers on the boat. But even more it taught me that the cruise lines basically hire foreign workers to work in very poor conditions with little pay and unreasonable working hours. It is likely that there are few Americans working below decks because we know from a young age that there are labor standards that employers must uphold. Once you are off to sea all those standards go to hell. This is a fun read if you have ever taken a cruise and wanted to know what it is like behind the scenes.
