Excellent, comprehensive review of this dancer's life, both on a career and personal level. Much detail on her dance style and development. The influences on Fonteyns dance, including her contemporaries, teachers, partners and directors are covered in detail. Extensive research is apparent. I found this book both compelling and heartbreaking. However, at times I had to put it down, I found Fonteyn's personal life so sad. I felt the author wrote from a contemporary perspective, and took in stride some of the life choices that I thought tragic. As a whole, it's well worth reading.
