I only read this book because of all the hype. And boy, am I glad did. While there certainly were aspects of the book that I found unbelievable or implausible, it's still a nice "escape" book and I like the way the inner monologue of the main character is written. The backstory for Christian Grey is one of the unrealistic parts of the book, but it's necessary so you don't totally hate his character. I'm planning on reading the rest of the series, but am curious how they're going to turn pure physical attraction into a serious relationship. I wish the writer would have worked more to take one of the underlying themes and make it a main theme - that at our core, all humans want desperately to connect deeply and intimately with another human being, but we're also absolutely terrified to do it.

I can't wait to see the movie version next year as well. Charlie Hunnam will make an excellent Christian Grey!!
