I read Destiny's Star immediately after White Star and I was glad because the last chapter of White Star was the first chapter of Destiny's Star but from a different point of view.
I really love this series and I was glad to have Bethral's background why she is this fearless warrior, her empathy with horses, her wandering with Red Gloves. I think it would be difficult to understand Ezran the Storyteller without reading the previous books. The Plains Culture was fascinating and the world building was good. The romance was drawn out but eventually they got there and the action happened quickly after that building to a satisfying climax where everyone got what they deserved. But the story ended with a mysterious traitor attacking Glorianna the Chosen.
From the title of the next book it looks like we are back to the Warprize series. My only complaint is now I have a long wait until the next book.
