The story line was very interesting. I did have trouble identifying with Jocelyn the preacher's daughter at the first but as the story progressed, she kind of grew on you.
Alexander Blackthorne (son of an American Indian and an English aristocrat) went a little wild when he arrived in London with his womanizing and gaming which didn't make me think much of him at first. He did improve though. He was always a gentleman with Joss. She wore thick glasses and dressed poorly. He liked her spirit but thought of her a just a friend. I am not going to spoil the story by telling you what happened. A good read. Some history and some of the minor characters are actual historical figures.
