A good haunted house book that read like I was watching a movie--fast paced and easy to picture in my mind. The book had elements of several well-known horror movies/shows (House on Haunted Hill, Scare Tactics, 13 Ghosts, etc). The plot was simple--6 people are chosen for a reality show where they must spend a night in an actual haunted house to win.

It really felt like I was reading the book version of several good horror flicks mixed together. In fact, the way the author kept making references to various horror movies, he may have meant it to be like an homage. The book also gives you an insider's view of a movie production which I found interesting.

Scream Queen was scary enough that I was on edge while reading it, but not so creepy to give me nightmares. Recommended, especially if you enjoy movies like House on Haunted Hill, 13 Ghosts, etc. The only problem I have is that I grew to like the main character and the book leaves you hanging as far as what happens to her in the end. I always hate it when a movie ends that way--if the author really was trying to imitate a horror movie, it would have been much better to pass on that sequel-begging trick.
