I read the reviews here, and I was tempted to skip this book because so many hated the ending. I read over 330 pages the first night, and had to get some sleep. I couldnt wait to get back to the book the next day.

Nick and Amy leave Manhattan and head back to Missouri after they both lose their writing jobs, and Nick's parents become terminally ill. They have been in MO for 2 years, when Amy disappears on their 5th wedding anniversary. Things are not looking too good for Nick's cry of innocence. Things start off slow and you love Nick and AMY, then you start to hate them both, and then you really start to understand them both. I did like our main characters. I found them flawed and I loved them for their flaws. I found them smart, clever and contriving. I didnt find the ending contrived. I found it perfect and realistic. This one twists and turns, and smacks you in the face. I loved it.
Amy used to write relationship quizzes for a magazine in NYC. So she inserts these quizzes through out the book and in her diary writings. This keeps the writing fresh.
Nicks honest deep insight into his flaws, are also a fresh take on some seriously flawed people. I love what Amy has to say about Cool Chicks, and relationships. Their ritual of a scavenger hunt is clever. All in all the author made a well written book with great details that all pull together.
