While her partner is on vacation, FBI Profile Maggie O'Dell gets involved in two high profile cases. There is a serial killer in Washington, D.C. He kills young women and cuts off their heads. The heads are left in public places; their bodies have not been found. Unknown to Maggie, her best friend, Dr. Gwen Patterson, is receiving notes from the killer. She believes one of her patients is the killer. Her loved ones have been threatened if she goes to the police.

Just when another head has been discovered, Maggie is sent to Nebraska on another case. Catholic priests are being murdered. Each of the murdered priests has had rumors of sexual abuse attached to their names. As the investigation heads up, Maggie is contacted by Father Michael Keller, a priest she believes murdered two young boys four years ago. Maggie must put her suspicions aside and accept his help in order to solve this case.

This is a fast moving addition to Alex Kava's series. I liked both mysteries, but thought the identity of the villains was very easy to figure out. I liked the addition of Detective Pakula. He seemed like a good detective that didn't have a problem with getting help from the FBI. I'm just sorry we didn't get to see Maggie's partner, R.J. Tully, in this book. My rating: 3.5 Stars.
