This officially makes up for the disappointment I had in the previous book, The Spider. I was debating between 4 or 5 stars on this one, and 2 little words pushed it to a 5: Vampire Nerd.
Yep. You read that right. The baddie in this installment is a vampire nerd, complete with pocket protector. It was just too freaking precious. But, don't be fooled by his nerdy appearance as he's still a fairly vicious foe.
Beauregard Benson (fabulous nerdy name) is the vampire drug lord of Southtown. His new drug, Burn, is becoming extremely dangerous and Bria wants to desperately take him down after the gruesome death of her informant.
Bria is a bit of a self righteous ass toward Gin (as if that's anything new), but she does come around toward the end.
This one is a fairly well self contained storyline, but we do *finally* have some forward progression in the overall story arc involving the mysterious MM Monroe.
